The Korean siege MMO that defined the genre for a generation. Lineage II's castle sieges, alliance politics, and grindset doctrine produced some of the most committed PvP communities in any MMO.
Lineage II refined the formula Lineage established and exported it globally. The castle sieges, the fortress system, the territory war structure, and the alliance politics all set design standards that subsequent siege MMOs (including Throne and Liberty from the same publisher) continue to reference. The grind ceiling was extreme, the politics were generation-defining for the audience that engaged, and the original Chronicle-era servers remain the canonical experience for the community. Lineage II Classic and Essence continue to operate, plus a thriving private server scene.
