Dark Age of Camelot defined realm-versus-realm PvP. Albion, Hibernia, Midgard. The three-realm balance kept the political layer in equilibrium more reliably than any two-faction or open-PvP system before or since. Merlin produced a generation of small-man specialists. Mordred carried the open-PvP audience. The Frontiers and the keep siege loop set design templates that New World, Throne and Liberty, and Camelot Unchained all reach back to.
