PlanetSide 2 launched in 2012 and has continued operating as the largest active MMOFPS. The three-faction format, the continent capture system, and the outfit-led operations infrastructure all carry the original PlanetSide design language forward with modernized graphics and significantly more refined gunplay. The competitive outfit scene operates without a formal pro circuit, but the coordination ceiling at the highest tier is higher than most modern FPS games offer.
