Blood

Dissolved with the tapering of the Darktide population. Blood ran the longest peak of any PK monarchy on the server, roughly 2000 through 2003, before The Last Stand (Khao) rose to overtake it. Leadership scattered into Dark Age of Camelot, EVE Online, and Darkfall Online.

Blood was the largest and most infamous player-killer monarchy in the history of Asheron's Call Darktide. Founded in mid-2000 by Zeke, who acquired a character named Blood specifically to unify the group's players under one tag, the monarchy grew from a small core in the Lin and Khay region into a vassal chain that reached roughly 3,300 members at its peak. For several years it was the force the rest of the server organized around, either as vassals sheltering under its banner or as enemies trying to break it.

The engine of Blood's dominance was a single published rule: do not kill other Bloods. On a server that was 100 percent PvP with full-loot death, that one guarantee was worth more than any amount of coordination. It turned Blood into a safe haven, and the safe haven became a machine. Resources and experience flowed up the vassal chain to a small elite of active player killers at the top, funded by a mass base of low-commitment members who joined simply for the easy life. The bigger it got, the more it could offer, and the more it offered, the bigger it got.

The surge that made Blood enormous came out of someone else's war. When GEN, a bloc of formerly neutral players who turned to random player killing, forced the anti-PK alliances into a grinding conflict over Ayan Baqur, those alliances bled members badly. Blood absorbed the refugees. The chain crossed 1,200, then passed 1,700 once the patron monarchs Red Devil and Shollos swore their own chains into it, and ultimately reached roughly 3,300 vassals. Blood took Ayan Baqur for itself. The territorial arc through Kara, aiding Black Rose Noble's defense, on to Lytelthorpe, and the running war against The-Feared on Aerlinthe Island are documented in the firsthand account left by Rak, a senior Blood PvPer who played the characters Mikey and later Asa.

The reputation outlived the numbers. Blood ran a heavy propaganda operation and carried a name that meant a single thing to anyone who saw it tagged over a player's head: kill or be killed. That reputation is why Blood is named in nearly every retrospective of the server, alongside contemporaries like The Mercs on the PK side and the anti-PK organizations that spent years trying to contain it.

Blood's peak did not last forever. As The Last Stand, the organization better known by its Khao tag, rose to overtake the server in the years after 2003, Blood's era of unchallenged dominance wound down. The monarchy remained a named force, but the political center of Darktide shifted. When the population finally tapered, Blood's core drifted apart. Some members sold their accounts. The leadership scattered into the games that absorbed the Darktide diaspora, Dark Age of Camelot, EVE Online, and Darkfall Online, carrying the same instinct for mass organization into each one.

Editorial note: the detailed founding-era record of Blood survives primarily through the firsthand account preserved on PvP Blog, cross-referenced against contemporaneous Darktide history. Specific vassal counts, dates, and named engagements reflect that account and are marked as such. Corrections and additional firsthand memory are welcome through the submission form.

Notable members

  • Zeke
    Founder and monarch

Started the Blood monarchy in mid-2000. Per the surviving firsthand account on PvP Blog, Zeke acquired a character named Blood specifically to found the monarchy and regroup the group's players under one common tag, establishing the single-rule doctrine from the start.

  • Rak
Senior PvPer and the monarchy's chronicler

Authored the primary surviving firsthand record of Blood's founding era, playing the characters Mikey (level 61) and later Asa. The account documents Blood's territorial arc and the refugee surge that ballooned the monarchy.

  • Red Devil
Patron monarch who swore into Blood

Per the firsthand account, Blood crossed roughly 1,700 followers once Red Devil and Shollos swore their vassal chains into it during the expansion era.

  • Shollos
Patron monarch who swore into Blood

Swore a vassal chain into Blood during the expansion that pushed it past 1,700 followers, per the firsthand account. A player under the Shollos handle also appears in Darktide records tied to other organizations; the cross-server churn of allegiances on Darktide makes single-identity claims unreliable, so this entry reflects only what the Blood account states.
