Gameplay
Splitgate launched in 2019 and exploded during a 2021 open beta when the audience finally caught up with what 1047 Games had built. The portal gun overlays a movement system that produces some of the highest mechanical ceilings in any modern shooter, and the Halo-lineage gunplay grounds the format. Splitgate 2 launched in 2025 with class-based loadouts and expanded modes, attempting to grow the audience while keeping the portal-driven movement intact.
