ARC Raiders is Embark Studios' extraction shooter, pivoted from its original PvE-only design into a PvPvE format where players raid a robotic-occupied surface world for resources while contending with both the ARC threat and other human raiders. The third-person camera, the destructible cover, and Embark's signature gunfeel give ARC Raiders a distinct identity in a category that has been increasingly crowded since Tarkov set the template. The PvPvE mix is the bet. Pure PvP extraction (Tarkov, Hunt) selects for a hardcore audience. Pure PvE looter shooters (Outriders, Helldivers 2) chase a different audience entirely. ARC Raiders is wagering that the audience for both, served carefully, is larger than either alone. The launch reception will be the early test of whether the wager holds.
